My work in ceramics grew out of my background as a gardener. I first began making pottery to create planters and vases for my plants and flowers. From there I have enjoyed creating various wheel thrown functional forms, using muted earth tones, line and subtle texture as ways to create simple, useful pieces with a natural presence. I enjoy the unpredictable, organic surfaces and layers that can be achieved in soda and reduction firing.
